Ween: The Prophecy

This point and click adventure takes a fantasy setting, in which you play a Wizard deemed to be ‘good’ taking on a less good one. To fulfill the prophecy you have been given in a limited time of 3 days, he must go on 3 quests, solving various puzzles along the way to be rewarded 3 grains of sand, that he must place in a hourglass to kill an evil wizard. Objects around the levels are always detected by the cursor, making each screen and the challenges within quick to comprehend. Generally you have to solve each puzzle in sequence.

The charming zaniness of Coktel's Goblins continues in this game filled with wacky characters and sporting an improved interface. Unfortunately, the puzzles are often too obscure to all but die-hard puzzlers. The plot of the game is up to Coktel's usual wackiness: you are Ween, a hero who must complete three quests and to be rewarded with three grains of sand, which you then must place into a magical hourglass to vanquish the evil wizard Kraal and thereby fulfulling an ancient prophecy. But you only have three days to do it, and a lot of hairy puzzles to solve. Those who have played Coktel's Goblins games will be right at home with this one - except that many puzzles are very convoluted and, having taken place in a fantasy world, not at all clear. Worse, many objects have multiple uses which you must discover by trial-and-error since the game's descriptions are usually vague. To the game's credit, there are often more things to do and more objects to manipulate in one Ween screen than in dozens of screens in other games. The game also branches in two occasions, thus allowing you to solve completely different sets of puzzles. There are also two methods of on-line help: your trusty bat sidekick, and your grandfather's friend Petroy, both of whom provide progressively explicit clues that range from gentle hints to specific directions.

Urban Runner

The player is Max, an American journalist in Paris. There seems to be a story at hand, about a big drug dealer who is covered by some influential person in politics. To get the dealer talking, the player offers him a photography in exchange for some information. But when the player gets there, the druglord is dead and everyones on their back - mistaking them for the killer. The game itself is a movie adventure on four CD-ROMs, dividing gameplay in Clue- and Action-turns. The player can control the game completely via mouse.

The game is an interactive movie adventure spanning four CD-ROMs, divided into Clue and Actions turns. The player character is Max (played by Brandon Massey), an American journalist in Paris, covering a story about a drug dealer shielded by an influential politician. To get the druglord talking, the player offers him photographs, but when the player arrives he is dead, and the player is framed for the murder. Urban Runner was not too popular at the time due to high graphics and monitor resolution requirements; there are very few reviews that have been released about the game.

The Bizarre Adventures of Woodruff and the Schnibble

After a devastating atomic war, the world population was nearly annihilated, and the survivors had to hide deep underground. In the meantime, a peaceful race of human-like creatures, the boozooks, populated the Earth. After the humans ascended to the surface again, they started a bloody war against this race. The boozooks were mercilessly destroyed, their culture demolished, and in the end of the war they were enslaved by humans.

You play the role of Woodruff, a boy whose foster father, professor Azimuth, was kidnapped by government officials. Apparently, the professor was developing a strange device called "schnibble", which had something to do with the liberation of the boozooks. Woodruff must find his father, dethrone the evil Bigwig and his corrupt government, and save the boozookian people. This is an adventure game with a lot of tricky puzzles, similar in style and design to the famous Gobliiins games by the same creators. Unlike Gobliins, this is a full-fledged adventure where you can move around freely and interact with many characters.

Once Upon A Time: Little Red Riding Hood

Based on Charles Perrault's tale, the game is an interactive book for kids and another part in the Once Upon A Time series. The player can take the role of both Little Red Riding Hood and the Wolf. Depending on this choice, the game has different objectives.

Probably the only game from Coktel Vision that was designed with kids in mind, Little Red Riding Hood is a hodgepodge mix between adventure and action elements that are, more often than not, more frustrating than fun. The plot is based on a familiar bedtime story that most of us grew up with: little Red Riding Hood is an innocent young girl who has a harrowing encounter with a hungry wolf that is pretending to be her ailing grandmother. She must, of course, try to outwit the wolf in order to survive. The game lets you play as either the heroine or the wolf, both of which follow the same gameplay pattern, only with different plots. The game's first sequence, for instance, is to dress up either Riding Hood or the wolf in their appropriate outfits. This is more or less a pointless clicking exercise, where you just randomly click at various objects on the screen until all the objects are found. Fortunately, the remaining parts of the game are not this inane, and feature some fun arcade sequences and inventory-based puzzles. None of the game's sequences is difficult even on the hardest difficulty level - a fact which is probably due to the game being designed for kids. As a kid's title, though, the game is still disappointing: it lacks any educational value, and some arcade sequences may be too frustrating for young gamers.

Lost in Time

In 1992, a woman named Doralice was investigating a shipwreck when suddenly it started moving. Unable to understand what's going on, Doralice investigates the ship and eventually finds out that she was chosen by the Space Time Patrol to travel back in time, to the year 1840. It appears that a man from the 22th century named Jarlath Equs has obtained a sample of a highly powerful and enigmatic element known as Americium 1492, and traveled back in time in order to hide it together with other treasure on the island of St. Cristobald. Doralice mission is to stop Jarlath at all costs - even if that means endangering her own future existence, for she herself is the descendant of Jarlath's wife and her lover...

Lost in Time is arguably Coktel Vision's best game, and one of the most fiendishly difficult and intricate puzzle games you'll ever come across. You play Doralice, intrepid heroine who has been chosen by the Central Computer of the Space-Time Police because of obscure ties with the Villain of this adventure, Jarlath Equs. Jarlath has stolen a sample of Americium 1492, hiding it the past, because of it's radioactive half life, and needs to bring it back in time to be able to use it to conquer the world. You have to find him and the sample before he destroys the time continuum. Lost in Time may very well be the most inventory-intensive game ever made, as you'll face literally hundreds of puzzles that require MacGuyver-like logic of combining household items into useful tools. Although most puzzles are logical, some of them require giant leaps of logic and minute hunt-the-pixel syndrome that can cause some players to give up in aggravation. Compounding the problem is the fact that there are always more puzzles you are allowed to tackle than you have the items for, and part of the challenge is to figure out the *order* in which to solve them. Hints are available in the form of 3 "Jokers" which you can use at any time - and the game is even sneakily coded so that you can't "cheat" by using up a Joker and then restore - you will find, to your horror, that that Joker isn't coming back. With a vast scope that spans various eras in time from 1840 to the present, challenging puzzles, and interesting plot, Lost in Time will keep you occupied for days on end. The original release in Europe was divided into two parts, that is, two sets of 3.5" Floppy disks sold separately as opposed to North American version which was a single complete package. A CD-ROM version Lost in Time: Parts 1 & 2, was released at the same time as the Euro floppy version and contained enough storage space for both parts as well as additional and longer video sequences with a higher frame rate and audible dialogue instead of subtitles.

Goblins 3

The third in the series of the weird adventure-puzzle games. This time you only have one Goblin to control. This was predictable just by the name of the game (the word 'Goblins' lost another 'i').

Download
This time we control Blount, a lonely goblin travelling through the country of Foliander. Almost at the beginning he will fall in love, but his girl gets kidnapped (shouldn't it be goblinapped?) and so he has to go through the same kind of mind breaking puzzles to rescue her (and help lots of others 'weirdoes' in the meantime).

Gobliins 2

The second in the series of adventure-puzzle games. In this installation, you only have two imps to control instead of three. Someone has kidnapped the prince and it's up to you and two hilarious sidekicks, Winkle and Fingus, to rescue him.

Download
Winkle is a reckless jokester, while Fingus is careful and has a gift for solving puzzles. Luckily, they're blessed with extraordinary vitality. In other words, they never die. That'll sure come in handy when you're up against Wily Wizard's traps, maniacal monsters, and twisted and perplexing puzzles.

Gobliiins

Gobliiins is an adventure game where the player controls a team of three goblins: Oups, Ignatius and Asgard (Hooter, Dwayne, and BoBo in the US release) to find four magic components. A voodoo doll has turned their king Angoulafre mad and by collecting the components they can track down Niak the Wizard, the only one who can put things right. The player needs to solve various puzzles by combining the different skills of the three goblins. It's possible switch between them and control them separately. Most of the puzzles are based on coordinated actions. One can cast powerful but erratic spells, another can collect and use objects, and the last can hit things. Action icons are activated at the bottom of the screen. The game takes in 22 landscapes, each of which has puzzles which must be cleared. The characters have limited energy, which can be sapped by traps.

In this colorful and uniquely funny adventure, it's up to 3 goblins to help the good king regain his sanity... before you lose yours forever. Your mission is to track down the dark force that's gleefully abusing the good King's voodoo doll. Find 'em, stop 'em, and usher in an era of peace and prosperity. Gobliiins is a warped and wonderful quest, filled with level after level of truly twisted inventory, object and logic puzzles. You command Hooter, Dwayne, and BoBo, three eager imps with special skills. In 1993 a cdrom version came out which included voices.

Geisha

Geisha is an erotic adventure game. A mad scientist kidnapped the protagonist's girlfriend Eva, and wants to transform her into some sort of a futuristic geisha (half-machine, half-human). The hero travels to Tokyo and must face various dangers to prevent this from happening. The game uses a point-and-click interface (with mouse support) and has several small sub-games included, such as a simple card game, a jigsaw puzzle with a time limit, a short arcade sequence, and others.

Download
In one of the most unique and controversial plots ever seen, you play an undercover agent who disguises herself as a futuristic geisha to steal secrets from seedy characters. Puzzles are as weird as you can get, with many arcade sequences that are obvious metaphors of carnal acts. The game is extremely difficult due to the fact that it is not always obvious which item you can pick up, and the puzzles require very warped mind that most gamers don't have. Worse, you can get irrevocably stuck if you forget to pick up or use certain items in previous scenes, making it a tiresome save-and-restore affair. Nevertheless, the game's high originality and wacky plot might interest some gamers, especially those who like mature-themed games (although the erotic scenes are pretty mild).

Fascination

Fascination is a mature-themed adventure. The game is about a business man who has invented a chemical drug that increases the sex-drive. Unfortunately he was assasinated, and you accidentally get hold of the drug sample. Your mission is to try to deliver the sample to the right person and avoid being made out as the murderer.

Fascination is the last game in Coktel / Tomahawk's short-lived line of risque, mature-themed adventures that began with Emmanuelle. Aside from its eye-catching "mature" label, the game is a rather mundane story about a business man who has invented a chemical drug that increases the sex-drive. Unfortunately he was assassinated, and you accidentally get hold of the drug sample. Your mission is to try to deliver the sample to the right person and avoid being made out as the murderer. You play a woman in this game, but in this case it seems as if the woman designer made the choice only as an excuse to flaunt mildly erotic, useless scenes such as you taking a shower. Another big problem is that you can't do much that's not related to the story, and there's no going back, so if you forget to snap a paper in the hotel, you have to restore an old save. This is made worse by the fact that some puzzles are not very logical, and it can takes hours to find the solutions. Apart from these gripes, Fascination is a good murder mystery, with interesting plot and some good puzzles. Beware of pixel-hunting, and save your game often if you want to finish this quirky game.

Bargon Attack

Bargon Attack is one of the less known adventures from Coktel Vision, though it was one of the first that introduced the unique interface that was used in many Coktel games that followed. It was also one of the first of Coktel's games to use FMV technology in cut-scenes.

From quirky French developer Coktel comes this fun and long adventure where you have to free the Earth from captivity under the alienrace Bargon. The game is humorous in a scifi "B" movie kind of way as it has a lot of cheesy jokes and weird aliens in Latex. The puzzles are fair (and some even creative) compared to most other Coktel games though there are some "pixel-hunts", and the plot is fun to follow to the end.
